Project description
Erlang Town, Luzhou, Sichuan, is located in a remote area among mountains, with unique conditions for brewing. It is a complete wine-making settlement. Langjiu Manor is located in the core area of Erlang Town and is the production base of Langjiu Group. The team is responsible for the development and design of its second phase Jiuge Square. The square includes five modules: restaurant (including stage), art gallery, characteristic homestay, cultural and creative block, and cliff bar. The space is diverse and complex, and it is an international design planning case.
The manor took five years to plan and build, and was completed under the assistance and guidance of Langjiu Group. Jiuge Square was originally a winery area, with many large old wine storage tanks to be abandoned. The design team adheres to the concept of retaining the heritage and genes of the local industry, removing the dross and retaining the essence, transforming and upgrading, and redefining the core field value of liquor brewing with a design that integrates the old and the new and interweaves the ancient and the modern.
Jiuge Square is located on the banks of the Chishui River, surrounded by mountains and rivers. It is an extension of the winemaking cultural space, like a paradise. The overall design adopts an organic curve shape. The core strategy is to retain the existing brewery building texture, such as wine storage tanks and some important buildings; renovate the building and present it in a lightweight and de-boundary manner, create a large amount of gray space, soften the sense of architecture, and integrate the light space into nature, such as the cliff bar.
In recent years, the team has focused on the exploration of "relationship theory" thinking and used it as the starting point for creation. This case is a spatial design strategy explored after thinking about the overall context of Langjiu Group and Erlang Town Base, which effectively connects natural ecology, human emotions and commercial operations to create an inclusive new space.
